Norway’s carbon uptake under climate change

Norwegian forests and land areas absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide every year, but this carbon uptake has unexpectedly declined about 40% in the last decade. This jeopardises climate targets and means more carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere, leading to additional global warming. Norway is not alone, with many European countries seeing the same trends.

The climate and health research group is an interdisciplinary group with strong competence within a range of areas of relevance to health impact assessment.

Climate and nature risk

The research group models and analyzes climate impacts on nature, society and the economy, performs scenario analyses, and conducts stress tests based on its knowledge and expertise in using climate and economic models and climate and other environmental data.

Climate System

The Climate System group conducts research to understand the physical changes and evolution of the global and regional climate system, the underlying driving human-induced and natural processes, and the subsequent consequences.
