Caught between Petroleum and Paris: Norway's transition dilemma
Sal 2: One of the major political debates in the current Parliament concerns the future of Norwegian oil and gas. Against a minority from green and left parties plead for a planned phase-out of the oil and gas sector stands the majority with the mantra of “development, not dismantling”. In the 2025 budget negotiations, a parliamentary majority (including the ruling party) decided to establish a Transition Commission for Norway. Shortly after the government announced a Petroleum White Paper for 2027. Based on this, we might ask: which plan will prevail?
