Bård is interested in the relationship between international climate politics, national climate policy, and scientific expertise.
With a background in sociology and Science and Technology Studies, Bård focuses on the tension between scientific expertise and democratic decision-making. His research interests include the UN climate change negotiations, equity in climate politics, forests and REDD+, and Norwegian climate policy.
Bård has a long track-record as a practicioner in Norwegian and international climate politics, and has followed the UNFCCC negotiations for more than ten years on behalf of a number of Norwegian environmental NGOs. He serves on the board of the Minor Foundation for Major Challenges, and has been a board member at the Sophie Prize, the Development Fund, and Friends of the Earth Norway.

- Sustainable Edge: climate risk assessment for companies The Norwegian real estate company Entra is the first company in Norway to have its revenues, investments and governance structure assessed in shades of green or brown in line with the updated Shades of Green methodology. The methodology has been developed in the ‘Sustainable Edge’ project in cooperation with leading Norwegian financial institutions, CICERO Shades of Green and ENOVA (the Norwegian public energy enterprise).
