The role of short-lived climate forcers in the global climate regime

This project will provide a comprehensive assessment of the potential of mitigation of Short-Lived Climate Forcers (SLCFs) in the emerging global climate regime.

A key objective of the project is to provide policy advice on mitigating SLCFs, including how to balance efforts to mitigate SLCFs with efforts to mitigate other climate forcers, in particular CO2 (under the UNFCCC-process). If the research is successful, and the advice heeded, the results from this project can potentially bring substantial environmental, social and economic benefits by facilitating more effective cooperation on climate mitigation. The insights generated by the project will be of use to climate negotiators, government bodies such as environmental ministries, environmental NGOs, and international organizations such as the CCAC.
