CIENS Breakfast Seminar: The importance of the “other” greenhouse gases, methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O)

CIENS and NILU – Norwegian Institute for Air Research invite you to join us for a breakfast webinar. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most important greenhouse gas in terms of human emissions and influence on climate change, but it is not the only greenhouse gas. In this webinar, we will look at the importance of two other greenhouse gases, methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O). How have their levels in the atmosphere changed in the past decades, particularly 2020 and 2021, and what is causing this development? Moreover, we will look at the climate impact of these changes and what needs to be done to mitigate them. Programme: 08:30 - 09:00 Sources and trends in atmospheric CH4 and N2O, Rona Thompson, NILU 09:00 - 09:10 The role of atmospheric chemistry in CH4, Ragnhild Bieltvedt Skeie, CICERO 09:10 - 09:30 The role CH4 and N2O in the climate system, Glen Peters, CICERO 09:30 - 10:00 Questions and discussion To follow the webinar live, you will have to register:
