Renewable Energy Projects: Local Impacts and Sustainability

Meeting the EU’s and Norway’s ambitious renewable energy targets will have significant local consequences. Policymakers must make decisions that balance the consequences for the economy, the society, and the environment. The project develops knowledge that assists them in such decision-making, while simultaneously providing new theoretical and empirical contributions to real options theory, social theory, restoration ecology, and local sustainable development.

Kristin Linnerud at CICERO leads work package 2 on real options theory. This includes a co-supervisor responsibility for one of the four PhD scholarships included in this project.

The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway and the project period is 2014-2017. It is managed by professor Erling Holden at Sogn og Fjordane University College. Other academic partners are CICERO, University of Oslo, Oxford University/OUCE, Aalborg University, NTNU/institute of industrial econonomics and technology management and Radboud university in Netherland.
